New Song Download

A new song is up for download on the sound page. This time it's a live version of Lay Lady Lay from the New York 1996 show. This song was played live twice at the Bridge School Benefit shows in 1994 and then was to be part of the live setlist for the 1996 Filth Pig Tour. They ended up only playing it at a handful of shows early on and then retired it, never having played it live again. While recordings of both 1994 performances exist, this is the only known live recording of this song from the 1996 tour with a full band.

Site Updates

Ok, I know it's been a while since we've updated parts of the site. I've spent the better part of the day doing just that. New additions include:

New Song Download - After some bandwidth issues, these are back online and there are several new ones waiting to be put up. The current song is a live version of Señor Peligro from the New York 2006 show.

Tour updates - Thanks to Revco, I've updated all the dates for the 1990 Mind tour, and should have them all correct now. I've also added ticket stubs/posters to several shows including 1/11/90, 2/3/90, 6/19/99, 7/25/92, 8/12/92, 1/24/90, 8/3/90, 12/27/92, 12/1/92, 11/8/88, and 4/11/03. Feel free to browse around the tour section, as updates are pretty continuous.

New Interviews - I added an interview from the Phoenix Sun Times from November 1988 (thanks to tenohtwo) and scans of the Chicago Tribune 7/12/92 interview we had previously only had a transcript of. The real interview includes a picture of Al/Patty/Adrienne (then 7) and a picture from the Lollapallooza practice sessions. Also added to the interview page are a few Wax Trax promotional pics/press releases. Scroll to the bottom for those.

USSA Tour Cut Short

Unfortunately USSA will not be completing their N. American tour:

Unfortunately, we're headed home early. Duane was injured at one of the shows, and after two grueling weeks of pain ended up being sent home by a doctor for repairs (some minor but necessary surgery). We'll be back out on the road as soon as possible.

Happy Holidays everyone.

We wish Duane a speedy recovery.

Paul Barker's Flowering Blight

From Paul Barker:

"Hello everyone. I have some music I am going to release under the project name of FLOWERING BLIGHT. This is music I have worked on recently, recording most of the music and vocals. I'll give full credits song-by-song as they are finished.

The first song I am releasing is entitled "The Perfect Pair". It's a monster in three parts. Here is a 35 second clip of "The Perfect Pair, pt2". You can download this snippet on the sound page.

I am also playing in a band called USSA, formed by Duane Denison and me last year. The USSA cd, "The Spoils", is available now and we are currently on the road through the states this fall. You can see more about the band at the USSA homepage (and also Myspace, as well here on prongs).

Thanks to you and prongs--
PAUL BARKER

Discuss

New Song Download

Yeah, I know it's been a long time, but the song of the week has offically been changed. Since the version of Time To Melt proved to be too large to leave up as a download for very long, I decided to go for another treat from the same show. On the sound page, you'll find a live version of Hellfudge from the infamous New Year's Eve 1989 show. This song made very few live appearances, and is made more unique by Jello's anti-80's ranting.

We also brought back an older download, in case you missed it way-back-when. This time, the wonderfully reworked version of All Day from the 1987 mini-tour is making it's reappearace. Check it out if you missed it the first time.

U.S.S.A.

Paul Barker's new band, U.S.S.A., is to tour the US in November and December, with Chemlab. Several other bands will be touring with them, namely, Skeleton Key and some other local bands.

They’ll be starting on the East Coast and heading into the Midwest, out West and along down the Coast. We swing back through NM, TX and the like, through NOLA and into FL and back up the East Coast.

We have a new page up dedicated to U.S.S.A. which you can see here.
USSA Video Online

There's now a video for the USSA song Autumn Flowers on their Myspace Page. It's footage from the first show (from the band's cameraman, way better than my crappy shot) spliced with studio footage. Also, the release date for the album has been announced as September 18th. At the June show, the band said they played "all their songs", so the setlist may very well end up being the tracklist for the album.

New Song Download

As promised, the new download is up on the sound page. This time it's a complete live version of the Lard song Time To Melt from the 12/31/89 Chicago show. This was the infamous kickoff show for the 89-90 Mind tour featuring many guest performers including Jello Biafra who does vocals on this track. This show was also filmed for the video portion of the In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up EP, the 2/22/90 Merriville show making up the audio portion. This is one of only two known performances of this song (with a rumored 3rd), which is actually surprisingly many considering it's 30 minutes long. We can only keep it up for a short while due to bandwidth, so grab it while you can.

Site Updates

Quite a few new updates today:

First, some great pictures from a couple old Blackouts gigs (8/27/82 and an undated Seattle show) are up. Check them out here and here. These pics are courtesy of Bestrockphotos.com

A flyer and a copy of the setlist from the first USSA gig are now up here. An ad and more info on the USSA show earlier this week are up here. Many thanks to Paul Barker for being cool enough to let me film the show. Hopefully a review of the show will be on the forum soon.

A promo pic of Paul from the Lead Into Gold period is up on the interviews page or directly available here.

Also, quite a few more interviews up for you early Ministry lovers on the interviews page. Newest additions are an interview from Matter in April 1983, Unicorn Times August 1983, Creem May 1985, and Rockpool November 1988. The interviews are arranged chronologically, so you should be able to find them easily.

Should have a new song of the week up soon. I knew this one existed, but didn't think I'd ever dig up a copy. I guarantee all will be impressed. In the meantime, grab the current downloads on the sound page, as they won't be up much longer.

New Song Download

After a bit of a break, a new song is up for download on the sound page. This time it's a live version of TV Mind from the Revco New Year's Eve show on 12/31/90. The Ministry crew used to play a Chicago gig on New Year's Eve (or at least did so many years in the late 80's/early 90's). Since they weren't on tour, the shows were often a bit more lively. At this specific show, there's quite a bit of improv (fueled, no doubt, by a bit of pre-New Year's indulgences), making it tough sometimes to tell if it's Revco or Pigface. Thanks to board member Dummkopf for hooking me up with this show and many other goodies!

Also back up for download is a live version of Over The Shoulder from the 4/10/86 Toronto show. For those who missed the recent torrent with lossless versions, this is a big upgrade in quality from the original version that was up for download years ago.
